Is Naturopathy safe?
Naturopaths swear to “first, do no harm.” We focus on providing you with minimally invasive, non-toxic remedies. There’s certainly nothing unsafe about massage, nor is there anything unsafe about the nutrition education we offer on a regular basis.
Here’s the truth—there are risks to relying solely on naturopathy just as there are risks involved with relying solely on pharmaceuticals. Given that prescription drug addiction has been declared a national emergency due to people’s tendencies to abuse these drugs (particularly pain pills). Even over-the-counter drugs can kill when they’re used and taken incorrectly. Nevertheless, we do recognize that there are many times when conventional medicine is the best tool for treating specific aspects of a person’s complaints.
Naturopaths will always encourage you, first and foremost, to become informed and take responsibility for your own health. We are here to help as educators and as guides. We will point out things that Western medicine does not think about. Many people choose to see a naturopaths in tandem.
Keep in mind that naturopaths attend advanced programs of study just as anyone else. As long as you are guided by a licensed practitioner you should be able to take advantage of the numerous treatment methods at our disposal while remaining perfectly safe at all times.
Why choose Naturopathy?
The body has an amazing ability to heal when you address the needs of the whole person. Every part of your body is connected. Your emotions, thoughts, lifestyle and nutrition all impact the state of your health. While Western medicine is mostly content to address symptoms, naturopaths aim to make gentle changes that will offer incredible results. We tap into your body’s own ability to heal.
Naturopaths also don’t tell you that you’re “done” just because you have found relief from a specific condition. We want to promote your best and healthiest self every single day.
We will spend a great deal of time getting to know you and your needs. We have had incredible results, helping people overcome decades of chronic pain or other conditions which have plagued them all of their lives.
What should I expect at my first Naturopathy appointment?
Generally, we will spend at least an hour getting to know you. We’ll ask specific questions about your health, your complaints, and your lifestyle. It might help you to bring a list of your own questions with you.
We’ll also find out about the other therapies you’ve tried in the past and any therapies that you are continuing. We want you to be as honest as you can here so we can find the best way to help you.
Finally, we start discussing how we might help you. We will make recommendations and schedule you for any special therapies or treatments you might need to take advantage of.
Finally, we will schedule a follow-up appointment. We want to touch base with you on a regular basis so that we can continue to monitor and promote your health.
